Wembley Park is taking art exploration to new heights with the launch of the app-based Wembley Park Art Trail, hosted within CityTrotter: London Walks. To mark UNESCO’s World Art Day, 15 April, the Northwest London neighbourhood has debuted a new digital solution aimed at encouraging visitors to explore its popular free outdoor art trail, consisting of 23 public artworks.

The newly launched app-based guide offers a streamlined way to discover the diverse art pieces on display throughout Wembley Park, just 12 minutes from central London. Utilising GPS technology, the app precisely directs users to each art installation, ensuring a smooth exploration experience. Artworks are creatively displayed on various surfaces across the neighbourhood, such as bridges, floors, bollards, staircases, and digital totems. The app enriches this journey by providing detailed information and context about each piece, deepening users’ understanding and appreciation of the art they encounter along the way.
Over the last five years, Wembley Park has delivered an increasing number of installations to enliven its public spaces. As a response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, the neighbourhood brought together its artworks into a cohesive trail. Today, an evolving programme of temporary additions joins the permanent artworks on display including the work of world-renowned British street artist Mr. Doodle. His distinctive “graffiti spaghetti” style covers over 30 concrete barrier blocks across Wembley Park, as well as an entire caravan. In recent years, Mr. Doodle has amassed a cult following, with over 7 million followers across his social media accounts. Some of his work has fetched as much as £6.3 million at Sotheby’s.

The digital guide to the Wembley Park Art Trail, downloadable on the free CityTrotter: London Walks app for both Android and Apple iOS, offers an eco-friendly way to explore London. It encourages active travel and customisable trails. Encouraging users to walk more, the app helps in reducing the environmental impact of exploring London, making it a more sustainable and environmentally conscious experience.
About the Art Trail
As visitors arrive at the iconic Olympic Way they are enveloped by “Crossover,” a vibrant, immersive digital artwork commissioned for the refurbished Bobby Moore Bridge. Created by London-based architectural design collective miriamandtom, the installation features interconnected, luminous panels that wrap around the bridge in dynamic displays of colour and light.
Fans visiting the global home of football will enjoy two striking tributes to England’s legendary captain, Bobby Moore. Visitors are greeted by the Bobby Moore Bridge tile mural on Olympic Way, depicting scenes of England footballers at the old Wembley Stadium. Up the Olympic Steps stands the awe-inspiring 20-foot bronze Bobby Moore statue, commissioned by the FA (Football Association), and created by renowned sculptor Philip Jackson.
The app then guides visitors to Lois O’Hara’s supersized floor mural, “Think Independently, Together“. The artwork celebrates the area’s diversity through eye-catching colours and interlocking shapes.
Brent resident Laxmi Hussain’s work, “Landscapes of Women,” is a tribute to the female form celebrating the diversity of women throughout the borough in which Wembley Park is situated. In an abstract way, the playful installation aims to emulate landscapes as well as representing the organic curves of the human body.
“Faces of Climate Change“, curated by Brent Council and on display at the Outdoor Gallery in Arena Square, showcases 16 photographs that were part of an ambitious photography competition aiming to bring to life the people and stories surrounding our climate crisis.
Outside the Grade-II listed OVO Arena Wembley, music enthusiasts will discover the Square of Fame, a collection of handprints from iconic musicians, rivalling the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The display features handprints from a diverse array of legendary artists, including pop stars Kylie Minogue and Madonna, British icon Sir Cliff Richard, rock band Status Quo, country music legend Dolly Parton, Canadian songwriter Bryan Adams, R&B superstar Lionel Richie and iconic Welsh singer Dame Shirley Bassey.
“The Shadow Wall,” an interactive digital installation by the internationally acclaimed Jason Bruges Studio, awaits visitors at the trail’s end or as the first encounter for those arriving from Wembley Stadium station. Employing infrared light sensors, the artwork creates a captivating “digital shadow” that mirrors visitors’ movements in real-time, offering an engaging experience for all ages and displaying the studio’s expertise in innovative public art.
