Meet Casa Tua: The hidden-gem Italian restaurant bringing Italy to London

Tucked away from London’s busiest streets, Casa Tua is the neighbourhood Italian restaurant built by friends Giuseppe Miggiano and Massimo Rubino… and it may just become your new favourite place for pasta.

London has no shortage of Italian restaurants. But there is something especially satisfying about discovering a restaurant that simply makes you feel at home.

Casa Tua’s name translates as “your home”, and the idea runs through everything the restaurant does: generous plates of homemade food, staff who remember returning customers and an atmosphere that encourages you to settle in rather than rush through dinner.

With restaurants in Camden and King’s Cross, Casa Tua has quietly built a loyal following by offering the warmth of an Italian family home in the middle of London. It is not a sprawling chain or a restaurant designed around the latest social media trend. Instead, it is a labour of love led by two Italian friends, Giuseppe and Massimo.

Giuseppe grew up in Puglia, where meals were as much about conversation, family and time around the table as they were about the food itself.

After moving to London, he wanted to recreate that experience for people who might be hundreds of miles from home. In 2013, he opened the original Casa Tua in Camden: a small, relaxed trattoria serving honest Italian cooking without unnecessary fuss.

Massimo, originally from Palermo, later joined the Casa Tua family, bringing his hospitality experience and unmistakable Sicilian warmth to the business. Together, the two friends have grown Casa Tua into a much-loved neighbourhood restaurant, expanding with a second location in King’s Cross and Casa Tua Delizie, a sandwich and wine bar just a few doors down from the original Camden restaurant.

Casa Tua specialises in Southern Italian cooking, with many dishes influenced by Giuseppe’s Puglian upbringing and his mother’s recipes. Fresh pasta is made in-house using semola flour from Altamura in Puglia and British free-range eggs.

One of the standout dishes is the orecchiette with sausage and cime di rapa. The pasta’s name means “little ears”, thanks to its distinctive shape, which is perfect for catching the sausage, turnip greens, garlic, chilli and crunchy tarallo breadcrumbs.

Elsewhere, diners can tuck into creamy burrata, truffle-filled arancini, artisan focaccia, pizza and generous seafood pasta.

Dessert is not treated as an afterthought either. Casa Tua’s tiramisu is made fresh and arrives with layers of mascarpone, coffee and cocoa, along with a subtle kick from Marsala and Amaretto.

Casa Tua’s King’s Cross restaurant is only a short walk from one of London’s busiest stations, yet it feels surprisingly removed from the crowds. The restaurant is spread across two levels, with space downstairs for larger groups and celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Camden restaurant retains the charm of the original neighbourhood trattoria. Located on Royal College Street, it offers an intimate setting for breakfast, lunch, aperitivo or dinner.

Neither restaurant feels overly formal. You can visit for a full evening of wine and sharing plates, or simply drop in for pasta and a coffee. The point is to relax, eat well and leave feeling looked after.

Giuseppe and Massimo believe good hospitality is about understanding people. That can mean remembering a guest’s favourite table, welcoming them by name or recognising when they are celebrating something special.

The pair describe the Casa Tua experience as “authentic Italian hospitality, homemade food, and a genuine feeling of being welcomed like family”. Their aim is not simply to serve dinner but to build relationships with the people who walk through the door.

In a city where new restaurants can sometimes feel designed to be photographed rather than enjoyed, Casa Tua offers something refreshingly genuine. There is homemade pasta, excellent Italian wine and plenty of character, but no pressure to be anywhere other than exactly where you are.

Perhaps that is why the name feels so appropriate. You may arrive as a customer, but do not be surprised when Giuseppe and Massimo make you feel like part of the family.
