MOTH is turning a humble corner shop into London’s hottest cocktail destination
As temperatures rise and London’s terraces fill up, one of the UK’s most talked-about drinks brands is bringing back a concept that perfectly captures the spirit of the season. For three days only, Shoreditch is getting its very own cocktail corner shop and there are 10,000 free Margaritas up for grabs.
The brains behind the takeover are MOTH, the ready-to-drink cocktail brand that has become something of a cult favourite among those who want bar-quality cocktails without the fuss. In fact, the brand now sells an astonishing one can every five seconds across the UK, proving that convenience and quality can happily go hand in hand.
From 4th to 6th June, MOTH is transforming 150 Shoreditch High Street into MOTH: Licence, a playful reimagining of the traditional off-licence. Think less dusty convenience store and more neighbourhood cocktail bar. The familiar shelves remain, but they’re stocked with stylish little black cans containing expertly crafted cocktails rather than your standard corner shop fare.
At the heart of the experience is the brand’s signature Margarita, a sharp, fresh and effortlessly drinkable cocktail made with premium Tequila Enemigo. Visitors can enjoy the perfect summer serve completely free of charge, with thousands of ice-cold cans being handed out throughout the three-day event.
The pop-up has been designed as a celebration of London’s summer social scene, complete with live DJs, surprise giveaways and a series of brand collaborations that promise to keep visitors lingering long after they’ve collected their Margarita.
For founder Rob Wallis, bringing the concept back to Shoreditch feels like a homecoming.
“MOTH: Licence started as a playful take on the corner shop somewhere everyone knows, but not like this,” he says. “Bringing it back to Shoreditch with 10,000 Margaritas just feels right. It’s a simple idea: great cocktails, big surprises and a reason to get together as summer starts in the city.”
If you’re planning to head down, my advice would be simple: get there early. Ten thousand Margaritas sounds like a lot, but in Shoreditch, free cocktails have a habit of disappearing fast.
