Chile has announced two housing-support application rounds for November, combining a new purchase subsidy for middle-income households with repair assistance that, for the first time in this programme, can be sought by owners of apartments. The measures address different needs: one helps eligible families buy a home above the price range covered by earlier middle-income tiers, while the other offers a materials allowance for specified repairs.
A higher ceiling for home purchases
The new DS1 Tramo 4,000 UF is intended for households seeking to buy a new or previously owned property. In the ordinary coverage area from Coquimbo to Los Lagos, qualifying homes may cost more than 2,200 UF and up to 4,000 UF. The purchase assistance for this band is 400 UF. Separate rules apply in designated northern and southern areas and certain territories, where the price ceiling can reach 4,500 UF and the subsidy amount differs. Applicants should therefore check the location-specific limits rather than assume the standard figure applies everywhere.
The announced application window runs from 17 to 27 November. The government information says online applications open on 18 November and close at 16:00 on 27 November; the regional announcement also identifies an in-person process through Serviu offices beginning on 17 November. The first national call has 2,500 places. The announcement says capacity may be expanded by a further 2,500 for people seeking to move from an existing middle-income subsidy tier, subject to the applicable process.
Applicants need at least 200 UF in housing savings, available by 30 October 2026, as well as the other programme conditions. These include being an adult, having the required identity or residency documentation, registration in the Social Household Registry and the ability to obtain a mortgage. The information says this call does not require the savings account to have been open for a minimum of 12 months. Those requirements mean the headline purchase price is not the whole test: households also need savings and financing capacity.
Apartment repairs added to materials card
The second round is the Banco de Materiales 2.0 card, also described regionally as “Tu Casa a tu Pinta 2.0”. Applications are scheduled from 9 November to 9 December. Its newly expanded scope includes apartment owners seeking support for bathroom and floor repairs, with assistance listed at 15 UF for apartments. The programme is delivered as a card for buying materials at participating hardware retailers, rather than as an unrestricted cash payment.
For houses, the regional announcement lists support for sanitary repairs and roof work at 25 UF, and up to 40 UF for fencing. It also says eligibility is being widened to families from the 40 per cent threshold of the Social Household Registry. These details describe different repair categories and should not be combined into a single allowance. The announcement says applications are online, and identifies 16 participating retailers in the Valparaíso region; that local retailer count should not be treated as a national total.
Two distinct routes to housing support
Together, the calls cover both access to a home and the condition of an existing one. The purchase subsidy targets a defined price band and relies on household savings and mortgage eligibility. The materials card addresses limited repairs, with eligible work and assistance varying by dwelling type. Neither announcement means that every household will qualify, and the stated number of places for the purchase call is a capacity figure rather than a guarantee of an award to every applicant.
The distinction between the national rules and regional implementation matters. The national service information sets out the purchase eligibility, savings threshold and location-based subsidy amounts. The Valparaíso announcement supplies additional detail on the repair card, local application arrangements and participating retailers. People considering either route will need to confirm the relevant requirements and dates through the appropriate official application channel before submitting documents or making a purchase.
