Erdem Mustafa named after fatal Enfield pub shooting as police renew appeal

Detectives have named Erdem Mustafa, 35, as the man who was fatally shot at a pub on Hertford Road in Enfield, and have renewed their appeal for information by releasing CCTV of a person they want to speak to.

Police said Mr Mustafa was shot on Monday 19 October. Officers were called at about 9.30pm and attended with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. He was treated for gunshot wounds but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Renewed appeal and CCTV

The renewed appeal asks anyone with information, or relevant CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile-phone footage, to contact detectives. The released CCTV shows a person investigators are keen to speak to in connection with the inquiry. Police have not publicly identified that person as a suspect, and the appeal does not establish their involvement in the killing.

Police said no arrests had been made when the appeal was renewed and that enquiries into the circumstances of Mr Mustafa’s death were continuing. The case is being treated as a murder investigation. No charging decision or court finding has been reported in the checked information.

Police keep an open mind

The senior officer leading the investigation said detectives were keeping an open mind, while believing the attack to have been targeted. That remains the police assessment at this stage, rather than an established finding about motive. Investigators have not publicly explained why they believe Mr Mustafa may have been specifically targeted.

Authorities have also acknowledged concern in the local area. The officer leading policing in Enfield said additional officers remained nearby to provide reassurance. The continuing patrols are a visible response while detectives pursue the murder inquiry; they do not indicate that an arrest has been made.

Information sought by investigators

People who were near Hertford Road around the time of the shooting may have information that could assist the investigation, including recordings from cameras or phones. Police are asking potential witnesses to consider footage that may show activity before or after the attack, as well as anything they directly saw or heard. Investigators have said that details which might seem minor could still be useful.

Anyone with information can contact police by calling 101 and quoting CAD 7050/19OCT26. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers, a charity independent of the police. The appeal remains open as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Mustafa’s death and identify those responsible.

Mr Mustafa’s family are being supported by specialist officers. Police have expressed their thoughts for his loved ones, while the investigation continues. The identification provides a name for the victim and the renewed appeal sets out a route for witnesses to come forward, but significant questions about the killing remain unresolved.

At this stage, the confirmed public position is that a 35-year-old man died after being shot at an Enfield pub, detectives have released CCTV of a person they wish to speak with, and nobody has been arrested. The police belief that the attack was targeted is explicitly provisional: investigators say they are keeping an open mind as enquiries continue.
