How one conversation is inspiring entrepreneurs across the UK

How one conversation is inspiring entrepreneurs across the UK

Social media often gets criticised. However, when used with intention, it can become a powerful tool for change.

How one conversation can spark entrepreneur inspiration across the UK

By sharing real stories online, Simon Squibb has shown what is possible. His content proves that visibility can unlock belief. Importantly, belief is often the missing step between an idea and action.

That same mindset was clear at a recent business show, where Doorbell of Dreams featured alongside HelpBnk. Together, they focused on supporting business owners at different stages of their journey.

The collaboration took place at a Hashtag Business Show, part of a wider UK programme run by Hashtag Events.

Hashtag Events brings together founders, start-ups and established organisations. The goal is simple. Create spaces where people can learn, connect and grow.

Estelle Keeber, a visibility and PR specialist who spoke at the event, said initiatives like Doorbell of Dreams highlight why social media and PR still matter.

“Social media is often dismissed as noise. However, when it’s used with intention, it becomes one of the most powerful tools we have. Just look at the impact Simon has had by showing up consistently and telling real stories.”

She added:

“Press and media aren’t about ego. Instead, they’re about credibility and confidence. When business owners see people like themselves in the media, it changes what they believe is possible.”

Why showing up still matters

The event attracted business owners from across the UK. Many travelled long distances because they value real connection.

Steven J Innes, who attended from Scotland, said consistency plays a key role in growth.

“It’s less about selling and more about growing connections and developing relationships. This was a new venue for Hashtag, but I came away with lots of enquiries and new connections. It was well worth the seven-and-a-half-hour drive. It’s just a matter of showing up and being consistent.”

Similarly, Stefan Thomas, who travelled from Oxfordshire, highlighted the power of conversation.

“Every big opportunity starts with a little conversation and the Sutton Coldfield Business Show was full of business owners having great conversations.

We met business owners from all over the UK. There were national companies as well as smaller local businesses. It was well worth the trip, and we’ll be back.”

Supporting business owners beyond strategy

For Hashtag Events founder Andrew Charlton, stories like these show why in-person events still matter.

“We’re fortunate to bring a roadshow of world-class experts around the UK. However, what really makes these events special is the people in the room. When determination and knowledge come together, real momentum follows.”

As social media continues to shape modern entrepreneurship, initiatives like Doorbell of Dreams prove one thing. Growth does not always start with a plan or a funnel.

Sometimes, it starts with a conversation. Sometimes, it starts with a ring of a bell.
