Hundreds of tiny ravers take over Ministry of Sound as Jordan Banjo and Daddy Pig hit the decks

Hundreds of tiny ravers take over Ministry of Sound as Jordan Banjo and Daddy Pig hit the decks

London’s most famous nightclub swapped late nights for nap times this weekend, as more than a thousand families packed into Ministry of Sound in Elephant & Castle for a baby rave with a difference.

‘No Leaks, Just Beats’, hosted by Pampers in partnership with Peppa Pig on Sunday 25th October, saw babies, toddlers and their grown-ups take over the legendary dancefloor for the global premiere of the brand-new ‘Evie’s Nappy Pants Dance’ music video. Dancer, DJ and dad-of-three Jordan Banjo led a mass dance-along, while DJ sets from Artful Dodger and Wideboys kept families moving all afternoon.

With the clocks going back the same morning, it was the perfect way for London families to spend their extra hour.

Making time to play

The event was created to encourage families to make time for movement, interaction and play – something many parents find harder than it sounds. According to the Pampers Baby Report, which examines family life during a baby’s first 1,000 days, one in ten UK parents say they rarely get enough uninterrupted time to play with their child. More than eight in ten (84%) face barriers to play, with lack of time and mental energy among the main challenges.

For Jordan Banjo, a busy parent himself, the message hit home.

“It’s been great to be a part of an event that gives babies and grown-ups a chance to dance, have fun and make memories together,” he said. “The track is incredibly catchy – and sharing the decks with Daddy Pig himself was a real highlight.”

Peppa Pig and family joined the party, with Daddy Pig making his DJ debut alongside Jordan behind the decks. Little ravers and their parents danced and sang along as the new music video was shown for the very first time.

A dance with a purpose

There is more to the Evie’s Nappy Pants Dance than catchy beats. The routine was developed in partnership with Speech and Language Therapist Emma O’Dwyer, founder of Baby Speak. By bringing together simple actions and repetition, the moves are designed to encourage babies and toddlers to join in and to support early communication skills.

It means the fun doesn’t have to stop at the club doors. Following the event, families across the UK can learn the dance at home and make it part of their everyday playtime.

Celebrating the wriggly stage

The song itself is inspired by a moment every parent will recognise: when little ones become more active and wriggly during nappy changes. It is often a sign they may be ready to switch from taped nappies to nappy pants.

Yi Chang, Pampers Brand Director, said:

“At Pampers, we know that some of the most meaningful family moments can come from simple everyday interactions and moments of fun. Through our partnership with Peppa Pig, we wanted to create a playful way for parents and little ones to move, interact and celebrate an important developmental milestone together. What better way to launch it than at a baby rave?!”

Watch and dance along at home
