Jaguars claim 19–17 Tottenham win with last-second field goal

The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Philadelphia Eagles 19–17 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, taking an NFL London game with Cam Little’s 57-yard field goal as the clock reached 0:00. The final eight seconds decided a game in which Jacksonville had already scored a first-half touchdown and trailed 14–7 at the interval.

Jake Elliott’s 48-yard field goal put Philadelphia ahead 17–16 with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. Ameer Abdullah returned the ensuing kick-off 53 yards to the Philadelphia 39-yard line, where he was tackled with one second remaining. Little then converted from 57 yards on the final play. That return brought Jacksonville into range for the winning attempt.

Jacksonville had opened the scoring at 5:26 of the first quarter. Trevor Lawrence found Parker Washington for a 51-yard touchdown and Little added the extra point. Philadelphia levelled the game in the second quarter when Will Shipley ran two yards for a touchdown. Jalen Hurts then connected with Darius Cooper for a 62-yard score with 5:31 left in the half, giving the Eagles their 14–7 advantage at the break.

Little reduced the deficit with a 34-yard field goal at 7:11 of the third quarter. The Jaguars moved in front in the fourth when Lawrence threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Washington with 3:20 left. The conversion kick missed, leaving Jacksonville ahead 16–14. Elliott’s late field goal restored Philadelphia’s lead before the decisive kick-off return and field goal.

Lawrence completed 24 of 39 passes for 331 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Washington made six catches for 124 yards and both Jacksonville touchdown receptions. Lawrence’s first scoring pass to Washington was the longest completion of the game for the Jaguars, while the later 27-yard pass gave them their first lead since the opening quarter.

Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown. Cooper caught two passes for 71 yards, including his 62-yard second-quarter score. Philadelphia finished with 22 rushing yards on 18 carries. Dameon Pierce led the Eagles with 14 yards on 11 attempts, while Shipley recorded the team’s rushing touchdown before leaving the game.

Jacksonville gained 408 yards and 18 first downs, compared with Philadelphia’s 232 yards and 13 first downs. The Jaguars ran for 102 yards and held the Eagles to 22 on the ground. Jacksonville’s two long Washington touchdowns and Little’s three successful kicks supplied the winning total.

The opening kick-off had produced an apparent 90-yard Jacksonville touchdown return by Josh Cameron, but it was nullified by offsetting penalties. Jacksonville defensive end Bryan Thomas Jr and Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr were disqualified on the play and ejected from the game. The kick-off was retaken, and Abdullah returned it 15 yards to begin Jacksonville’s first possession.

The outcome moved Jacksonville to 4–1 and left Philadelphia at 2–3. The final three scores came during the last 3:20: Washington’s touchdown, Elliott’s field goal and Little’s winner. Abdullah’s return preserved enough time for Little’s winning attempt in Tottenham.
