TEA’s Art and the City initiative promotes inclusive investor engagement in London

In a bid to foster stronger ties between the arts and the financial world, The Engagement Appeal (TEA) has launched its Art and the City initiative.

With Art and the City, TEA, a new social venture, aims to encourage inclusive engagement in investing, creating a platform for collaboration between artists and financial experts.

The Art and the City initiative addresses the financial challenges faced by those working in the arts, including inconsistent work contracts, fluctuating incomes, and a lack of tailored financial information and advice. Through a multi-faceted approach, TEA seeks to bridge the gap between these two seemingly disparate worlds.

The Art and the City initiative will include a Financial Literacy Programme designed for artists and individuals working in the arts. Along with a podcast and fun networking events tailored for those in the arts to learn more about finance. Simultaneously, city workers will have opportunities to delve into the arts, creating a space for mutual learning and collaboration.

The programme will be spearheaded by TEA’s Artist Ambassador, musician Emmeline. A pivotal aspect of Art and the City will be the Artist Ambassador Programme, offering financial support for artists through paid internships. This programme aims to equip artists with valuable skills whilst allowing the flexibility to attend auditions and pursue acting jobs.

At the initiative’s inaugural event, Emmeline expressed her excitement about being the first Artist Ambassador, stating, “This event is the start of something new that will hopefully benefit both artists and city-workers, and connect groups of people who have not previously been encouraged to interact.”

TEA is forging partnerships with a number of individuals and organisations in the arts, to reach people across the industry. One such partner is Spotlight, offering casting support and information for performers, with whom TEA has hosted a TEA-time Finlit cocktail hour.

Art and the City is part of TEA’s vision for inclusive investor engagement. TEA believes that Generation Z and investors with diverse backgrounds can play a crucial role in shaping the future of investor relations. By actively engaging with TEA’s initiatives, young adults and individuals within the artistic community can contribute to democratising investing.

Young adults in the UK are significant consumers of goods and services but often don’t engage with companies at an investor level. TEA aims to change this by promoting constructive collaboration between companies and individual investors.

For companies, inclusive engagement means accessing a broader spectrum of views and expertise, leading to improved commercial and financial performance. Investors, on the other hand, benefit from a deeper understanding of the businesses they support, enabling more informed wealth allocation decisions. By participating in TEA’s initiatives, individuals from the artistic community and beyond can actively shape the future of investing, governance, and corporate responsibility in the UK. This initiative presents an exciting opportunity to democratise investing and ensure that corporate decisions reflect a wider spectrum of voices and perspectives.

TEA’s Art and the City initiative marks a significant step toward a more inclusive and collaborative approach to investor engagement, fostering connections between the arts and finance for the benefit of both industries. The next TEA event in partnership with Event Sponsor, Link Group, is the upcoming Winter WoCoS event, taking place next week, on Wednesday 29th November.
