Holy Trinity Sloane Square will host a special gala concert featuring Sophie Bevan MBE and Damon Nestor Ploumis, alongside a distinguished line-up of guest artists, to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, The Brain Tumour Charity and Maggie’s.

A special charity gala concert will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, London, on Saturday 2 May 2026, bringing together acclaimed singers and musicians for an evening of music in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, The Brain Tumour Charity and Maggie’s.
The event follows the success of last year’s concert, which raised over £40k through ticket sales, raffle prizes, sponsorship, food and drink sales, and donations.
The gala has once again been organised by George Coates, whose family has been directly supported by these charities following his brain tumour diagnosis in October 2024. This year’s event aims not only to build on the fundraising success of 2025, but also to raise awareness of the life-changing work these charities do for patients and families facing cancer and brain tumour diagnoses.
This year’s concert is headed by two outstanding international singers: soprano Sophie Bevan MBE and bass-baritone Damon Nestor Ploumis.

Recognised as one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation, Sophie Bevan MBE has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras and opera companies, including the Royal Opera House, ENO, Glyndebourne, the Metropolitan Opera, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. She was made an MBE for services to music in 2019 and has received numerous major awards for her work.
Damon Nestor Ploumis is a New York-born bass-baritone known particularly for his work in the bel canto repertoire of Rossini and Donizetti. He has appeared with more than 40 opera companies across Europe and the Americas, including Zurich Opera, San Francisco Opera and the Greek National Opera, and is also the founder of Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.
They will be joined by an impressive line-up of performers including Max Barley, Nigel Foster, Makoto James, Richard Milnes, John Morgan, Isolde Roxby and Lusine Yeghoyan.
The programme promises both scale and variety, combining major choral works with well-loved operatic favourites. Audiences will hear two substantial British choral masterpieces: Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and Hubert Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens, alongside much-loved opera arias and ensembles by Mozart, Donizetti and Verdi.
It will be an evening that is both stirring and celebratory, showcasing the breadth of the performers’ talents while reflecting the gala’s spirit of generosity and hope.
Speaking ahead of the event, George Coates, organiser of the gala concert, said:
“This concert is about more than one evening of music — it is about bringing people together to raise awareness of the extraordinary work these charities do and to raise vital funds for the care, research and support that mean so much to families like ours.”
Sam Rohde, Community Fundriaser for The Brain Tumour Charity, said:
“Our heartfelt thanks go out to George and all those who have been instrumental in making this gala a reality. It will make a huge difference for all those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis and the coutless families who support them.”
