“Bertinet Bakery brings giant ‘breakfast in bed’ experience to London’s Southbank”
A giant breakfast in bed experience is heading to London’s Southbank this month. Courtesy of one of the country’s most delicious sliced sourdough brands, Bertinet Bakery, this UK-first aims to inspire the nation to make the most of its extra hour in bed, as the clocks turn back on 29th October.
The brand’s recent research shows that the weekend “lie-in” has become a rare luxury, with 65% of Brits waking up before 9am on a Sunday and 1 in 7 confessing that their lie-ins last for a mere 29 minutes longer than their regular wake-up time, whilst 66% can’t even remember the last time they indulged in breakfast in bed.
Bertinet Bakery – now available at Waitrose and Ocado with its real sliced sourdough loaves and bloomers – is aiming to reignite our love for the Great Sunday Lie In. On Wednesday 25th October, between 10.30am and 3pm, its giant pop-up breakfast-in-bed experience will land on London’s iconic Southbank, calling Brits to indulge in a sumptuous sourdough breakfast with a view, nestled under the covers.
The complimentary breakfast menu will include a range of elegant dishes featuring Bertinet Bakery’s half bloomer sourdough loaves, recently launched into Waitrose, the Potato, Polenta & Onion, Rustic Country White and Seven Seeds & Grains.
The brand has worked alongside Sourdough Specialist, Best-Selling Author and Founder of The Sourdough School, Vanessa Kimbell – who put her magic touch on the menu, focusing on dishes that compliment and hero the taste and texture of sourdough.
- Boiled Eggs with Croque Monsieur Soldiers – a classic breakfast with a twist, creating soldiers using bechamel sauce and grated cheese.
- Savoury Masala French Toast – eggy bread with a twist, using onions, chilli and turmeric served with a zingy green chutney.
- Avocado toast and sweetcorn salsa – a bright, fresh dish packed full of flavour. A perfect balance of whipped avocado and a hint of spice.
- Ultimate open BLT with a twist – fresh bacon added to crisp lettuce and juicy tomatoes, topped with a classic vinaigrette and beetroot hummus.
