It has been said time and again that all of us have the same 24 hours in a day. However, it still boggles the mind how a select number of people seem to be able to do ten times what the average person can do in those 24 hours. In the same way but on a different time scale, it’s puzzling for most people how some entrepreneurs are able to establish multiple successful businesses in the same amount of time it took others to do next to nothing.
For serial entrepreneur Luke Lintz, founder of the rapidly-growing HighKey Enterprises, the main difference between those who under-achieve and those who overperform is the self-discipline it takes to set personal goals.
About The HighKey Group of Companies
Luke’s venture into entrepreneurship started when he established HIghKey Co along with his brother Jordan in 2016. At the time, Luke was only 16 years old. With HighKey Co achieving considerable success as one of the first brands of wireless earbuds in the world, it paved the way for the Lintz brothers to explore more opportunities in other industries. They eventually built HighKey Clout, which focuses on the growing high level clients social media accounts and uses clout as currency.
To better manage the resources of his rapidly expanding portfolio, Luke is in the process of establishing HighKey Holdings, HighKey Real Estate, and HighKey Investments. These serve to hold majority ownership over the HighKey group of companies, invest profits into real estate, and manage other opportunity investments of the group, respectively.
Now at 21 years old, Luke Lintz is a full-fledged serial entrepreneur, prompting questions on how exactly he managed to do so much in so little time. Well, the answer to that is something that Luke himself would like to tell his younger self if he had the chance: “set more and bigger goals.”
Setting Aside Distractions by Setting Strict Goals
“Setting goals is the most valuable asset that any human being can have because it’s the power of manifestation,” says Luke. “The biggest reason people procrastinate is because they lack clarity and direction. Having an exact plan every day and having your purpose constantly in mind is a very effective strategy to combat procrastination.”
This kind of advice is something that Luke wishes he had when he started his first business about five years ago. He admits that he only started setting a large number of goals two years ago, and it made all the difference in clearing up the path ahead for his success. When he finally realized that he can get rid of all sorts of distractions by having a very clear outline of what one needs to do for a certain period of time, he was able to focus on the things that mattered for him and his group of businesses.
“I now set daily, weekly, 90-day, one-year, three-year, five-year, 10-year, and 25-year goals,” reveals Luke. “I revisit and realign these goals constantly to make sure they remain relevant. You have to blaze your own direction yourself in the form of an exact plan and make sure your daily goals correlate with that plan.”
Here’s a concrete example: For the Highkey Group, Luke sees the group reaching nine figures in revenue within the next five years, before going public and listing with the New York Stock Exchange in 10 years, and becoming a global household brand in 30.
Resilience as the Antidote to Frustrated Goals
Even someone as goal-oriented as Luke Lintz admits that life will sometimes get in the way of one’s most well thought-out plans.
When this happens, Luke likes to keep himself running by tapping deep into his resilient nature and sticking to his goals, no matter how difficult it gets with the challenges life throws his way.
“I remind myself that all I have to do is keep showing up and working as smart as possible to achieve any of my dreams.” Luke says and continues explaining “another very important aspect of goal setting is being around others with similar and bigger goals. You can be the strongest minded individual but fail on your path to success if your environment doesn’t align with them.”
For instance, Luke remembers one of the biggest setbacks he experienced when he was just starting out with HighKey Technology. He made a mistake in assessing the volume of inventory needed for a new product, thus sinking the company about $150,000 in the red. It stunted the growth of HighKey Tech, but he took it not as a sign that he needed to give up — just that he needed to not make the same mistake ever again. During this mistake Luke had his brother and business partner Jordan by his side who decided to continue to pursue the business harder than ever despite the very large failure at the time.
This, for Luke, is the power of manifesting: believe in your goals and yourself enough even when the going gets tough, and you can achieve whatever you set your mind to achieve.
