A big night of glamour, and giving: The Butterfly Ball 2025 soars for Caudwell Children

There are few nights in the London social calendar that truly dazzle like The Butterfly Ball and this year, it celebrated its 25th anniversary in the grandest style at The Dorchester Hotel. In support of the incredible work done by Caudwell Children, the evening brought together celebrities, philanthropists, and change-makers for a cause that continues to transform lives.

As someone who had the honour of hosting this year’s event, I can honestly say it was a night to remember. The ballroom shimmered with anticipation as familiar faces like Tamzin Outhwaite, Donna Preston, Michelle Gayle, Brenda Edwards, Dominic Skinner and Karen Ruimy made their way down the red carpet, in support of children with disabilities and autism.

Paloma Faith served as Musical Director for the night. Known for her soulful anthems like “Only Love Can Hurt Like This,” Paloma brought her signature flair, curating an electrifying lineup that included powerhouse performances from  the legendary Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge.

As dinner was served, Magic FM’s Neeve Spencer set the tone with laid-back beats, before DJ Harriet Rose turned up the volume and took us dancing well into the early hours.

On the night we celebrated Caudwell Children and the extraordinary impact they’ve had over the past 25 years. CEO Claire Marshall took to the stage to share powerful stories from families whose lives have been touched by the charity’s work. From providing essential mobility equipment to autism assessments and therapy, Caudwell Children is more than a charity it’s a lifeline.

Founder John Caudwell, reminded us of the journey that began in 2000 and has now impacted over 78,500 families through the Caudwell International Children’s Centre at Keele University. His speech, both heartfelt and motivating, was a poignant reminder of why this night mattered so deeply to many.

I was thrilled to be joined on stage by Rhys, a young man who’s part of the charity’s Shaping Futures programme, which supports employability and independence for young people with autism and disabilities. His story resonated with the entire room and perfectly captured the essence of the evening.

The wonderful Charlie Ross led our luxury live auction, where guests bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences and prizes including a trip to Nekker island.

As the night drew to a close it was announced that the event had raised over £1,5 Million pounds.
