An award winning light artist and designer has introduced his latest luxury timepiece, the Tempus Terra.
Ben, of Ben Rousseau Studios unveiled his new design at an exclusive watch showcase at the The Lansdowne Club last month.
“Days Of The Independents” was hosted by British luxury watch retailer The Limited Edition with 35 brands in attendance on September 19th.
The Limited Edition exists to showcase the unique talents and exceptional craftmanship of the independent watchmakers, to a growing community of Connoisseur collectors around the world.
To celebrate ten years of the Tempus range by Ben Rousseau Studios, Ben, unveiled his latest design at the show. The Tempus Terra is crafted with real wood and softly illuminated.
Ben says:
“My ambition is to transform the way society thinks about time in order to appreciate the importance and joy of living in the moment.
” Terra turns the passing of time into something warm, organic and quietly hypnotic.
“Sustainability is an important value and driver in my work. For Terra the wooden clock face and the aluminium chassis and frame were sourced from local suppliers and manufactured within a 100mile radius of my workshop.
“I wanted to bring together nature, light and technology to create a calming focal point for beautiful interiors. I designed this piece with luxury hotels, spas and wellbeing spaces in mind.
“Our mission at Tempus is to play a part in the evolution of timekeeping devices. We believe beautiful design has the power to redefine our experience of reality and by rethinking our relationship with time through design, we rekindle a love affair with the seemingly ordinary.”
Designed and made in the UK, Ben’s timepieces uniquely bring together elements of digital technology, luxury craftsmanship and kinetic art.
With a focus on local manufacturing and sustainable materials, TEMPUS products are designed to encourage us all to live life in the moment and appreciate our time more today than we did yesterday.

Ben Rousseau’s relationship with making began early, shaped by time spent around machines, workshops, and automotive culture. Thanks to his father, custom motorcycles, car shows, and the raw energy of engineering left a lasting impression. What stuck was not just how things looked, but how they felt. Power, movement, noise, and precision all working together.
That early exposure grew into a lifelong fascination with how engineered objects carry emotion and history. Today, Ben’s practice centres on transforming mechanical and industrial elements into functional artworks that explore energy, movement, and presence through light.
Working closely with engineers, fabricators, and specialist makers, Ben reimagines components such as engines and exhaust systems as sculptural works. These objects have lived intense lives, shaped by speed, pressure, and human ambition. His work asks why the parts that drive machines are so often discarded, while the outer shells are celebrated, and what it means to give those components a second life outside the garage.
Alongside his studio practice, Ben has over two decades of experience delivering large-scale and immersive projects in collaboration with architects and creative studios. This background informs his ability to realise ambitious works that operate confidently across private, public, and architectural contexts.
Now based in Brighton, Ben continues to develop a focused body of work that treats light as both material and message. His works are defined by precision, restraint, and a belief that engineered beauty deserves the same reverence as traditional sculpture.
