After launching just last week, Greggs has revealed that its viral “Baked in Gold” jewellery collection completely sold out in just 48 minutes — a new record for the food-on-the-go retailer.
What’s more, the iconic Signet Ring was cleared up in under ten minutes by those eager to don the unmistakable Greggs logo on their fingers.
Along with the Signet Ring, the five-piece collection includes Sausage Roll Stud Earrings, and a Jammy Heart Locket Necklace. Designed by British artist Dion Kitson, the collection was unveiled just days before its release, coinciding with London Fashion Week’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
The announcement also sparked a social media frenzy, with fans eagerly anticipating the launch across various platforms. The initial teaser post garnered over 73,000 views on Instagram, while the announcement of the collection selling out amassed over 134,000 views, showcasing the online buzz around the launch.
A Greggs spokesperson said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the response to our Baked in Gold collection. The speed at which it sold out shows the love our customers have for Greggs. This limited-edition range has truly resonated with our fans, blending our iconic menu with edgy fashion in a unique and exciting way.”
Those who missed out on the collection should stay tuned on Greggs social media channels for potential opportunities to be in with a chance of winning some of the collection…
About Greggs
Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal, to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Greggs on legs, if you will…
Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Making, baking and selling fresh bread and tasty treats from his very own shop on Gosforth High Street…there’s still a Greggs there today, although it’s looking a little bit different these days!
Over the years we’ve opened more and more shops across the nation, and have become somewhat of a Nation’s sweetheart in communities far and wide. Our menu has also changed with Britain’s taste. The long-standing Greggs fans among you may even remember the olden days before the hotly-debated Vegan Sausage Roll, or our freshly ground Fairtrade espresso.
Yep, we’ve loved rolling through the decades with our customers. But, behind the freshly made sandwiches and golden puff pastry, we’ve always been committed to doing good. Way back in the sixties, we started with our free ‘pie n peas supper’ for older residents in the North East. Today, we’re still as committed as we’ve always been. Through Greggs Foundation and with support from over 100 partners, we provide 7.5 million free wholesome breakfasts to primary school children every year. Our support for the Children’s Cancer Run has raised over £30m to fund research into improving recovery rates of children with cancer. All of this, and so much more. We love our communities and we’re proud to be able to give back to them.
So, here we are today. With over 2,000 Greggs in the UK, the important stuff still matters to us. We’re hard-working, but above all else we’re family; and it doesn’t matter who you are, where you are from or what your favourite bake is, when you come into our shops, you’re part of the family too.
