WOLF, the company behind WOLF Qanawat, the go-to app for Arab communities in the MENA region, with offices in London and Newcastle in the UK and Amman in Jordan, is committed to championing women in its workforce to help improve gender parity in technology – a typically male dominated industry.
At WOLF, women now outnumber men at the London office and the company has tripled its female presence at a senior level. In Amman, one third of the workforce is female – bucking the trend in the Middle East.
Saffron Lawrence is a Management Accountant at WOLF, working at the London office. Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8 March, here’s what she has to say about being a woman working in tech in London.
Why I Love Working for WOLF
Working as a management accountant at WOLF has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I started working at the company in July 2023, and my role involves financial reporting, cashflow management, budgeting, cost analysis and business partnering in areas such as software integration planning, performance, and financial insight reporting. The dynamic nature of my job at WOLF means there is always something new to tackle, which is exciting. I take pride in being efficient and thorough in my work, ensuring that our financial health is always in check. Managing the expectations of internal and external stakeholders while balancing WOLF’s resources, can be challenging but also exhilarating. This juggling act keeps me engaged and motivated every day.
WOLF is constantly evolving and embracing the endless opportunities for innovation and growth. Being part of a company that is at the forefront of digital transformation means that I am always learning and adapting to new trends and technologies in finance. This fast-paced environment fosters creativity and collaboration, making it a fantastic place to work.
Why It is Great to Be a Woman Working as an Accountant at WOLF
I feel empowered and inspired by the progress being made towards gender equality. The tech sector is increasingly recognising the value of diverse perspectives, and as a woman, I am proud to be part of the change through my work at WOLF. Being an accountant in tech allows me to combine my financial expertise with efficient and innovative systems, driven by technology. The support and encouragement from my colleagues and the broader tech community have been instrumental in my professional growth.
Where I See Myself in the Future of Tech
Looking ahead, I see myself continuing to grow within the tech industry, taking on more strategic roles that influence the financial direction of the company. I aspire to leverage my skills in financial analysis and business partnering to drive innovation and efficiency. As the tech landscape evolves through AI, I am excited to use this through my contributions at WOLF and future endeavours. I also want to continue excelling in financial management through technology whilst also championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
