Redefining Home & Garden Care: A Conversation with Samuel Collett of Willow Alexander

Today, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Samuel Collett, the Co-Founder and CEO of Willow Alexander, a Home and Garden management platform that has been making waves in the industry since its inception in August 2019. As we explored the story behind Willow Alexander and its unique approach to sustainable home and garden care, Samuel provided insights into the company’s evolution, values, and future aspirations.

Samuel, could you give our readers a snapshot of Willow Alexander and its distinctive position in the market?

Certainly. Willow Alexander is a comprehensive Home and Garden management platform that offers a range of sustainable property maintenance and home services alongside some of the best eco-friendly products to help you maintain your home and garden.  Our focus is not just on convenience but also on minimising our environmental impact across all our services.

What was the inspiration behind creating Willow Alexander, and how did it transform into its current form?

The initial concept originated during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally a garden design and maintenance company, we saw an opportunity to redefine customer care in the gardening industry and offer products and services alongside each other by opening an online platform. Willow Alexander has since grown from a singular electric vehicle to becoming London’s foremost sustainable Home and garden service provider and lifestyle brand.

Sustainability is a significant aspect of Willow Alexander’s identity. Can you elaborate on how the company champions this cause?

Sustainability is not just a component of our business; it is at the heart of everything we do. From the services we offer to our e-commerce store, we are committed to providing eco-friendly solutions. Our subsidiary, Sustainabli Plus Limited, focuses on carbon offsetting, and we have been certified as carbon neutral since 2021, further solidifying our commitment to environmental responsibility.

What were some of the challenges you faced during the company’s growth, and how did you overcome them?

Building a company amidst a pandemic posed its own set of challenges – from social distancing to economic uncertainties. However, these challenges also pushed us to think innovatively and expand our services beyond our initial scope. The key was perseverance, dedication, and the unwavering support of our fantastic team.

Willow Alexander has achieved several milestones. Could you highlight some of its most notable achievements?

Being recognised as London’s most sustainable home and garden service provider is a significant accomplishment. Our certification as carbon neutral by One Carbon World and the gold international standard each year are also notable milestones. Innovations like the B2C booking platform and the e-commerce store have redefined customer care in our industry.

Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of Willow Alexander?

The future holds continuous growth and expansion for Willow Alexander. We aim to extend our reach nationally through our partner network and diversify our services further. Sustainability will remain a core element, with an ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact while delivering top-notch services.

In our conversation, Samuel Collett provided a fascinating glimpse into the journey of Willow Alexander – a journey marked by resilience, innovation, and a dedication to a sustainable future in the realm of home and garden services.
