JIJI: A Fusion of Flavours to Remember!

Culinary enthusiasts, behold! The time has come for you to experience the enticing world of JIJI, an Islington-based gem, offering a delightful fusion of Middle Eastern and Japanese flavours. With a new menu and exciting expansion plans, JIJI is set to become one of London’s most sought-after dining destinations.

The menu, crafted by the talented Executive Chef Bubker Belkhit (Buba) in collaboration with restaurateur Janina Wolkow, is a scrumptious smorgasbord of unique dishes that will leave your taste buds craving more. From the tender Chicken Thigh with Sweet Teriyaki Sauce to the inventive Baked Hispi Cabbage, each dish is a testament to JIJI’s commitment to culinary innovation.

The Salmon Avocado with Tempura Flakes and Fish Roe, a true highlight, was bursting with flavour and had me dipping my chopsticks into the accompanying sauce for more. The Fiery Yellowtail sushi, a personal favourite, was so exquisite that I simply couldn’t resist returning for a second visit within a week!

The small plates were equally impressive, with the Chicken Karaage Gochujang boasting a delectable honey sauce that left me yearning for another bite. While the Aubergine Carpaccio wasn’t quite my cup of tea, my sister couldn’t get enough of it – proving that JIJI’s menu caters to a diverse range of palates.

As for the large plates, the Scottish Salmon, 48-hour miso marinated, was cooked to absolute perfection, and the Slow-cooked Pulled Lamb & Beef Shawarma was simply divine, especially when paired with the Flatbread JIJI style, baked on the robata grill.

And, of course, no meal would be complete without a touch of sweetness. The Open Cheesecake with Apple, Pineapple, Blueberries, Milk Biscuit Crumb and Yuzu Curd was a symphony of flavours that left me in dessert heaven. On my second visit, I indulged in the Salted Caramel Chocolate Fondant, which proved equally scrumptious.

From the moment I stepped into JIJI, with its vibrant atmosphere and lively open kitchen, I was met with nothing but warm hospitality from the staff, who ensured my dining experience was nothing short of fantastic.

In summary, JIJI offers an unforgettable fusion of Middle Eastern and Japanese flavours, expertly crafted dishes, and top-notch service. It is a culinary adventure that is simply too tantalising to pass up. Do yourself a favour and book a table at JIJI – your taste buds will thank you!
