Brand and Culture Expert Nick Ede’s guide to the best hair salons in London

There are over a thousand hair salons in London and with so many to choose from it’s hard to decide which one is the best. They cater for all different hair types and styles of course. Here are some of my favourite ones from new to established, glamorous to trend led there’s a salon for everyone.

For the Consciously minded there is the Neil Moodie Studio in the heart of Londons’ East End in Spitalfields. Housed in the progressive Spitalfields area, the 1600 square-foot space has been carefully designed with more than a nod to sustainability, values Neil deems crucial for positive change within the hair industry. The much-anticipated studio is Moodie’s first solo venture; the next step in a 35-year career that’s seen him create some of the world’s most iconic hairstyles, gracing hundreds of magazine covers, runways and red carpets.

All pricing is gender neutral, with costs reflecting the service clients receive, rather than the gender they identify with.

Reducing the collective carbon footprint of the hair industry is a topic Neil is passionate about, and as such, the Neil Moodie Studio has partnered with Green Salon Collective, an organisation committed to recycling and offsetting, as well as research and education within the sustainability space.

For the seriously glamourous there is Inanch  This Multi-award-winning / salon of the year have worked with some of the world’s biggest celebrities and VIPs, I can’t mention the mega-famous ones due to NDAs, but I can say Maya Jama, Alesha Dixon, Rochelle Humes, Charlotte Tilbury, Anne-Marie, Mischa Barton – to name just a few!

Inanch is also a hair loss/extension specialist and is featured in the hall of fame for her amazing work. Her hair transformations are amazing!

They recently launched beauty rooms which offer top-of-the-range, non-invasive treatments, including Dermalux (great for acne), Hydrafacial, Collagen Wave and Skin Pen. They promote youth and regaining youth the natural, non-surgical way… and it works, Inanch herself is 50 and looks AMAZING.

For the coolest cut head to Adam Reed in Spitalfields and a new one opening called By Adam Reed in the heart of theatreland, Londons’ Covent Garden. With his fabulous attention to detail and brilliant service and staff this bad boy of the hairdressing industry has been a top stylist for many years. He also has a brilliant own named product line too so you can indulge yourself in the salon expeince at home .

For a glamorous look with a modern twist then head to Larry King who is an A-list favourite. His salon in South Kensington is stunning and insta perfect with a lounge and cocktails when you wait. In fact, you won’t want to leave in case David Beckham or Pixie Lott pop in. There’s even a selfie light there so you look picture-perfect

For innovation, lovers head to Live True located on Wardour Street in the heart of Soho. The salon has a futuristic, ethereal vibe that’s unlike any other salon in London. Focused on bringing out the client’s true self, empowering brand messages are scattered throughout along with Instagram-friendly spots to create a fun, memorable client experience. Live True believe good hair needn’t compromise the planet, therefore the business has either repurposed or recycled existing material on-site to create the sleek salon aesthetic. Think exposed brickwork instead of plaster, open lightwells to increase natural light and modern furniture that’s made from reclaimed wood and timber and they use renewable energy too.

If you live in Wimbledon then the place to go is the Gina Conway Salon. This multi-million pound Wimbledon salon offers a state-of-the-art experience, including a Blow Dry Bar, hair and scalp consultations, an Aveda retail counter, beautiful spa rooms, comfortable shampoo beds and a luxurious waiting area offering bottomless teas, coffees, and a charging station as well as use of ipads. All appointments start with a relaxing head and neck massage and aromatherapy experience.

Finally in Notting Hill is the sensational Gustav Fouche salon. He is famous for his 3D Dry Cut which allows him to uniquely adapt a style in 3D for each client to achieve a flawless, bespoke finish. Gustav is responsible for a who’s who of celebrities styles including Gal Gadot, Kate Hudson, Meg Ryan, Liz Earl, Carol Vorderman and Sam Thompson and now you can feel like an A lister too.
