Now is the time to stock up on your Christmas chocolates, as prices are cut, unless you can hold your nerve …

Where to grab your festive chocolate tubs this weekend, and why it might pay to hold your nerve!

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a tub of your favourite chocolates, right? In my household, that tub of Quality Street doesn’t last past about 5 pm on Christmas Day, which is a real shame. It’s even more disappointing, considering that the tubs have gotten smaller in recent years, and the price of these festive treats seems to be steadily increasing!

Well, the good news is that both Sainsbury’s and Tesco are offering discounted prices on 550g-600g tubs of Celebrations, Roses, Quality Street, and Cadbury Heroes until December 3rd. This means you can save some of your festive cash!

Below are the prices in both supermarkets until Monday, which will save you a few quid on your festive budget! You’ll need to be a loyalty card holder to get these prices, so a Nectar cardholder for Sainsbury’s or a Clubcard holder if you grab your tubs from Tesco. Both loyalty cards are free to download and use, though, so worth signing up for if you haven’t already.

This will likely be the final discount event for these products in major supermarkets before Christmas. Several promotions have been running in the last few weeks to get you to buy your festive tubs nice and early, and neither of these current promotions is the cheapest promotion that has been offered either. So, if you’ve been holding off buying these, you’ve likely missed out on the best deal, unfortunately, and so it’s worth stocking up while stocks are still available!

That said, if you can hold your nerve a few more days, you might be able to grab a better deal by purchasing from a much smaller retailer….

On Friday, December 6th, One Stop stores will be offering these exact same products for just £2.50 for one day only! Stock is likely to be very limited due to the size of the stores, so it would be fair to say that it’ll be first come, first served, but this offer will equal the best deal that has been available in this run-up to Christmas (Asda offered two tubs for a fiver a few weeks ago) and is worth grabbing if you see it!

How can I maximise these deals?

  • If you use a cashback service when making your purchase from either Tesco or Sainsbury’s, you can save a few extra pence as well. For example, cashback app JamDoughnut is offering 4.1% cashback when you buy a gift card to pay for your order in Tesco and is offering 4.5% cashback at Sainsbury’s, and these gift cards work both in-store and online.
  • One Stop is offered by cashback services. However, they do offer Student and  Blue Light discounts, so if you qualify, this is a way to save some extra pennies!
