London knows how to do summer. From rooftop bars and riverside terraces to outdoor cinemas and pop-up festivals, the capital comes alive when the sun decides to make an appearance. But if you’re looking for an experience that genuinely takes things to another level, then Up at The O2’s Summer Sessions might just be one of the most exciting ways to spend a Friday evening this summer.

Returning this July and August, the popular Summer Sessions transform London’s most iconic entertainment venue into a spectacular sunset destination, combining breathtaking views, live music and a little bit of adventure.

Forget squeezing onto a crowded rooftop bar. This experience sees guests climbing 52 metres above ground level across the famous roof of The O2 itself. As the city begins to glow beneath you and the sun starts to dip across the skyline, climbers are treated to one of the most unique views London has to offer.

What makes Summer Sessions particularly special is the atmosphere waiting at the summit. Once you’ve completed the guided ascent, you’ll be welcomed by the sounds of a live saxophonist performing a soundtrack of feel-good summer classics. With the London skyline stretching out in every direction, it feels less like a tourist attraction and more like an exclusive sky-high party.

Included in the £45 ticket price is a refreshing drink to enjoy while taking in the view, with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold and Pepsi Max on offer alongside non-alcoholic alternatives. The sessions also include extra time on the roof, allowing guests to relax, soak up the music and, of course, capture some seriously enviable photos as golden hour works its magic across the capital.

The Summer Sessions take place on Friday 17th and 24th July and Friday 14th and 21st August, with climbs departing at 7pm, 7.30pm and 8pm. With only 25 places available on each climb, these intimate events are expected to sell out quickly.

Whether you’re planning a memorable date night, celebrating with friends or simply looking for a different way to experience London, this is one of those events that combines adventure, entertainment and spectacular scenery in equal measure.

And the fun doesn’t have to end when you come back down to earth.

The O2 has evolved into one of London’s most impressive entertainment destinations, with more than 30 restaurants, bars and attractions under its famous dome. From burgers at Gordon Ramsay Street Burger to casual drinks in the outdoor beer garden at Wetherspoon, there’s plenty to keep the evening going. For those looking for something more active, attractions including TOCA Social, BOOM BATTLE BAR and Cineworld offer plenty of ways to extend the fun long after sunset.

If you’re making a day of it, Outlet Shopping at The O2 is also well worth a visit. Home to more than 60 brands offering discounts of up to 70% off the recommended retail price, shoppers can browse everything from adidas and Nike to Kate Spade New York, The Cosmetics Company Store and the recently opened Søstrene Grene.

With easy access from central London by Tube, road or even riverboat, Summer Sessions offers the perfect excuse to rediscover one of the capital’s most iconic landmarks from a completely different perspective.

This summer, why settle for drinks on a rooftop when you can enjoy them on one?
