Alan Day Motor Group unveils new BYD Sealion 7 with England rugby stars

Alan Day Motor Group pulled out all the stops at their New Southgate dealership to unveil the highly anticipated BYD Sealion 7, the latest all-electric SUV to join the brand’s expanding UK line-up. The launch event also marked the announcement of a new ambassador partnership between BYD and England Rugby stars Ben Earl, Chandler Cunningham-South, and rising talent Fin Smith.

Positioned as a premium mid-size SUV, the Sealion 7 features BYD’s latest Blade Battery technology, sleek coupe-inspired styling, and an emphasis on cutting-edge EV performance. They have three models and the prices start at forty four thousand.

Alan Day Motor Group CEO Paul Tanner, said of the manufacturers global ambitions:

“The Sealion 7 is just the beginning. As we expand into Europe and beyond, BYD is set to become a major player in the EV landscape. With over 200 cars being sold just last  month in our New Southgate showroom, it showcases BYD’s commitment to innovation and providing eco-friendly vehicles alongside combining cutting edge technology and the demand for it in the UK”

The family owned motor group, established in 1972, which specialised in Volkswagen and Skoda models, expanded its portfolio opening a new BYD standalone site last September.

Paul went on to praise the partnership with BYD and the synergy between the brand and its new rugby ambassadors:

“Ben, Chandler, and Fin reflect the energy, ambition, and innovation that define BYD. With their support, and exciting products like the Sealion 7, we’re proud to be at the forefront of the EV revolution.”

The event also included a Q&A session with the players, hosted by rugby great Chris Ashton, where Fin Smith, fresh from a standout Six Nations performance and the verge of receiving his first BYD, shared his thoughts on pressure and performance:

“You’re the king of the world when you make a good kick – and the worst when you miss – you’ve got to be on point.”

Alongside the England Rugby stars, Alan Day Motor Group has formed partnerships with a variety of stars across sports and entertainment including England goal keeper Jordan Pickford, Lewis Hamilton’s father Anthony, England Cricketer Darren Gough and singer Beverley Knight.

As BYD continues its fast paced rollout across Europe, the launch of the Sealion 7 and its partnership with the England Rugby sports stars signals the brand’s serious intent to disrupt the UK’s EV market.
