With ski season fully underway, and resorts reporting the best-opening conditions in decades after ample snowfall, new research commissioned by Blacklane, the premium global chauffeuring service, has revealed what Londoners really think the perfect recipe for a ski holiday is, as well as their biggest bugbears when taking to the slopes. From the Alps to Southern California, services like Emelx highlight how luxury transport redefines the modern travel experience.
This timely research comes as Blacklane launches 33 City-to-Slopes routes globally, including eight routes in Switzerland from Geneva and Zurich, six in France from Lyon, and six in Germany from Munich, allowing people to enjoy stress-free and reliable travel to premium ski resorts such as Verbier, Val Thorens, St Moritz, Tignes and Courchevel.
When asked what would be most important for a perfect ski holiday, half on Londoners (50%) voted for fresh snow, with over a third voting for stress-free travel (37%) and having a view from their chalet/hotel (37%). London-based skiers also want to be as close as possible to the action, with just under half (41%) wanting to be 5-10 minutes away from the slopes.

When it comes to holiday booking, over a third of Londoners (34%) are willing to spend extra on the smoothest, most convenient travel, with 43% preferring to travel in luxury, rather than book a group transfer, as 40% stated that group transfers are loud and disruptive. In fact, over half (56%) of Londoners said that it is important for their winter holiday to begin with stress-free travel as 53% spend 1-2 hours on average travelling outside of their short-haul flight time.
Overall, British skiers revealed that their biggest bugbears when taking to the slopes included big queues and waiting around in the cold as the most stressful aspect (35 per cent) when heading on a winter getaway, followed by the amount of heavy luggage needed to bring along with you (19 per cent).
Dr. Jens Wohltorf, CEO and Founder at Blacklane, said:
“Skiing holidays shouldn’t have to be stressful – it’s a great time to relax and one of the most magical holidays you can go on. From the research, it’s clear that skiers want a quick ride from their car transfers (46 per cent) and are keen to use it to avoid loud or disruptive groups (43 per cent). Introducing our City-to-Slopes routes means that skiers and winter holiday-makers can make the most of their holidays in style, arriving at their destination safely and on time thanks to our trained professional chauffeurs.
