Pizza & focaccia class at Astrid Bakery on the 10th October

Press Release
Pizza & focaccia class at Astrid Bakery on the 10th October

This Saturday, the 10th of October, join a lesson with our Executive Chef Matteo di Russo and learn how to prepare, mix, and knead a versatile dough to create two Italian classics: pizza and focaccia. Whether you’ve never set foot in a kitchen or are an experienced baker, you’ll learn our pizzaiolo secrets as you shape, top and bake your own pizza and focaccia, with expert guidance throughout the class.

You’ll arrive to refreshments and a few delicious Astrid goodies to nibble whilst you get set up for your class. You’ll then move ‘Back Stage’ to our shaping table, where you’ll manage your own dough at each stage of the process, under expert guidance. Matteo will talk you through the techniques and tips needed to create the perfect dough, from mixing and kneading through to shaping and preparing your bakes.

Whilst you allow your dough to prove, Matteo will make you a delicious Roman-style pizza to enjoy with a glass of Champagne, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask all your burning questions. Whether you’re looking to perfect your pizza-making skills, learn more about working with dough or simply want to spend an afternoon baking and enjoying good food, the class is designed to be relaxed, hands-on and fun.

After the break, it’s time to prepare your bakes for the oven. You’ll shape, top and bake your own pizza and focaccia before taking them home to enjoy. You’ll also leave with a gorgeous Astrid embroidered tote bag, alongside all the recipes and instructions you need to recreate your masterpieces at home.

Each place includes:

  • Three-hour small-group course
  • Refreshments & Astrid cakes and treats on arrival
  • A glass of Champagne & freshly baked pizza
  • Your own pizza and focaccia to take home
  • Astrid embroidered tote bag
  • Recipes and instructions

About Astrid

Astrid is an independent North London artisan bakery founded by Charlotte O’Kelly, a former fashion writer and stylist and Le Cordon Bleu-trained baker. Known as ‘London’s Tiniest Bakery’, Astrid brings together exceptional baking, considered design and a distinctive approach to gifting, creating seasonal pastries, sourdough breads, celebration cakes and beautifully presented viennoiserie.

Built around Charlotte’s belief that food should be both delicious and beautiful, Astrid has developed a loyal following for its hand-crafted products and highly recognisable aesthetic. Astrid recently expanded with the opening of Astrid Atelier, a second nearby space offering luxury provisions, lunchtime fare and an expanded range of sourdough breads, all made by hand on site.

Astrid House Sourdough has been awarded a Gold Medal by British Baker, while products including Astrid Ultra Luxe Granola and Astrid Croissant Classique have received recognition from the Guild of Fine Food.
