TCL supports the inaugural Tsinghua Alumni London Art Exhibition: A perfect fusion of technology and art

The inaugural Tsinghua Alumni London Art Exhibition opened to widespread acclaim, celebrating the intersection of technology and art. Organised by the UK Tsinghua Alumni Association (UKTA) and co-curated by Nancy Zhang (Zhang Zetian), Tsinghua Alumni and Honorary Chair of the JD Foundation, the exhibition attracted global interest with hundreds of submissions 30 trailblazing artists selected.

Made possible by Jingdong and supported by esteemed partners including Christie’s, TCL, AKZU, NetMind.AI, and Hirsch & Mann, the exhibition showcases over 40 works, more than half of which were created by post-90s artists and Tsinghua alumni, infusing the event with a fresh and contemporary perspective.

The exhibition, titled “Ubiquitous Technology: The Science of Aesthetics,” explores a rich cross-cultural dialogue between tradition and modernity, East and West.  Artists from diverse backgrounds employed new media and innovative techniques to transcend artistic boundaries, seamlessly integrating traditional Chinese craftsmanship with contemporary expressions. Notably, works featuring Jingdezhen ceramics and Suzhou embroidery—a celebration of China’s profound cultural heritage—were displayed alongside modern media, exemplifying the exhibition’s theme of merging the old with the new.

TCL, a key partner, underscored this fusion by showcasing its latest 115-inch QD Mini-LED TV, which welcomed guests at the entrance. This advanced display provided ultra-high contrast and brilliant colour accuracy, enhancing the digital artwork and captivating visitors. Additionally, TCL provided multiple screens positioned in an atypical vertical format throughout the exhibition, offering an interactive experience. This setup was a nod to the brand’s NXTFRAME series, which invites exploration of digital art’s endless possibilities, demonstrating how each frame can convey a unique story, which explores in the era of new media.

In light of the growing prominence of Asian, particularly Chinese, young artists on the international stage, the UKTA aims to elevate their recognition in the global cultural arena. This initiative serves as a platform for emerging talents to showcase their work, encouraging creativity and inspiration within the artistic community. The success of the exhibition not only highlights the rising global prominence of young Chinese artists but also reflects the confidence and active engagement of the Chinese community in fostering cultural exchange. This event paves the way for more talented young Chinese artists to make their mark on the international stage, offering audiences a profound appreciation of Chinese culture through aesthetic experiences and thoughtful reflections.

Meanwhile, TCL will continue to innovate through its globalisation process, leveraging cutting-edge technology and products to provide users around the world with exceptional visual experiences and the limitless possibilities of future lifestyles.
